Nation /
RuminaRuminia is a small human nation on the northern extremes of the Isle of Man. Geographic DescriptionNot too terribly much is known about Ruminia on the Isle of Man itself, beyond a long standing peace between itself and its neighboring nation Ordalia. The southern border of Ruminia is home to the tallest mountains and volcanos on Sharna and few ever cross it. The waters around Ruminia are frozen for most of the year save a small area between Dragoncrest Castle and the town of Jain. CitiesJain (also known as Port Tuesday) is also the only town most outsiders to Ruminia ever get to see. The lands around Jain are very harsh and known to contain many dangerous monsters. The town itself is completely unremarkable in almost all other ways, although most travelers seem to believe that they overcharge for basic services. The town consists of nine buildings, two of which are inns. The Mule's Hope is a terrible inn (they don't even have beds), but some still favor it over The Oaken Barge due to the latter's exorbitant price levels. The capital of Ruminia is a town called Gren in the center of the nation and is home to the legendary Rumin Ice Palace. Foreigners are welcome, but getting to the town is typically extremely dangerous - even teleportation is known to have some issues in the area. However, it is said that once one arrives in the town, the residents welcome you with open arms and warm tea. It is also said that Gren is possibly the nicest place on Sharna, and no one has ever been able to prove otherwise. The rest of Ruminia is populated by very small villages that dot the frozen tundra. DemographicsTechnologyTechnology Era: Industrial Age (Steampunk) Ruminia has long since been the home of great forges and other signs of technological progress due to its abundance of geothermal power and natural steam vents. As such, the people have migrated their ways toward utilizing this steam in every way conceivable. MagicMagical Era: Applied Era ReligionMost of Sharna would recognize them as simply "Non-Ajoran" - no Ajoran missionaries have been successful in spreading their religion to the area, but no one really knows what they actually worship. Rumor has it that they are a splinter group of the old Fara Church. They call themselves the "Church of the Innocent", where they respect beings that either are the epitome of innocence ("The Innocent") or defenders of innocence ("The Valkyries"). RaceWhile a majority of the population of Ruminia are Human, there is a very large population of Half Elves in the capital city of Gren, along with a wide variety of Elves of all different creeds. Nekos and Zards are known to inhabit the general region as well. General PopulationThe population of Ruminia is considered a young nation - the bulk of the population are teenagers or younger, especially Half Elves. Each of the extremes in age, both young and old, are looked up to as the ideals of either imagination or experience, respectively. GovernmentEver since the assassination of their monarchy, Ruminia has migrated to a less directly-ordered government. Taking up the example of the birth country of their queen, |Bilania Zern| of Miin, they have migrated toward a style of rule that requires direct participation of the citizenry themselves. Each village and/or town in Ruminia have their own smaller government that generally operates the city plus any expansion there-of. The closest thing to a centralized government would the the council in Gren, which other nations treat as the legitimate government of the nation.
