Elf

Races of Sharna

Background Elves are the group of races resembling that of faeries and other |Sprites| descending from their Paragon |Zern Lanthani|. Each of the |children| of Zern supposedly correspond to each of the races of Elves - High Elf, Mirage Elf, Mountain Elf, Night Elf, and Silver Elf, although it is not known if there were more than five children of Zern. Each of the races share basic physical characteristics (although typically with different skin pigmentation), other basic physical qualities, and an affinity towards nature, but little else. Of these races, the High Elves and Mountain Elves are the most dominant of the elves and have a large population advantage over the other elven races.

Most elves prefer to stay away from urban centers, typically living inside of natural structures or at most small villages. Mountain Elves are the exception to this rule, favoring extremely urbanized areas to that of natural areas. Interestingly enough, the reasons for doing so are the same as the reasons why other elves prefer living inside of natural structures. They live exclusively on the Isle of Fae and the Dwarven Isle (Mountain Elves only), and it is very rare to see a full blooded elf on the Isle of Man.

Racial Relations Most elven races have a strict isolationist policy when it comes to dealing with other races - the Silver Elves, for instance, will welcome any individual into their own town but have a distrust for groups and won't actively seek out people. The Night Elves are known for simply killing non-elves on sight inside of their forests. As usual, the main exception is with Mountain Elves, who like to foster a racial unity with other peoples, especially Dwarves. Most outside races view elves as being snobbish, arrogant, and less than kind to most people, but typically not very dangerous. The exceptions to this are the Mountain Elves (which to those that know the difference view them as friendly and a bit childish at times) and the Night Elves (which are typically viewed as extremely powerful warriors that aren't to be messed with).

Religion Typically, Elves will worship as a society instead of as an individual. Each elven race has different viewpoints and different methods of worship, from the Animism of the Silver Elves to the strict worship of Zern of the Night Elves. Elves will only defer their thoughts towards Zern out of the Chronosian Pantheon, except for the Mountain Elves which actually worship the Dwarven Paragon instead. Often times, they will worship Zern and multiple members of the Transcendent Pantheon simutaneously.
